Natural Disasters: Turkey
There is absolutely no doubt to the fact that natural disasters have become more common in the past few years, may it be in the form of earthquake, landslides, floods, hurricane or draught. Thousands of people are dying every year due to natural disasters. Unfortunately, even with the help of all the developments we have made with science, we are absolutely helpless when natural disasters strike. The only difference technology can make is providing relief features after the tragedy has struck. However, avoiding death is impossible.
Recently Turkey had one of the worst earthquakes in its history and it was also found that it was sitting on a number of fault lines, meaning more of such earth quakes are on the way. Thousands of people became homeless in minutes. It was also reported that some died due to improper shelter and cold. There was some violence as well among people who had become homeless. The violence was created due to lack of tents. I am sure that cold would have been very cruel to the homeless. I wonder if they have domestic heating oil boilers and Red Diesel Suppliers, in order to have economical heating solution like here in Aberdeen. Turkey has been in the news a lot recently, due to its spat with Israel. It was threatening to go on war with Israel; I wonder if we need more people dead when so many are already dying due to the natural disasters.
As per a new report the waters of the Pacific Ocean are going to rise in temperature by half or one degree. This could mean long term disaster for many Pacific islands and in some case complete wipe out. The report also mentioned that this will increase the number of natural disasters and that the temperature change cannot be reversed even if adequate measures were taken to address it, as the temperature rise is a result of long-term pattern and cannot be easily reversed.
